Just make sure you don’t tell on me, especially to members of your family
We best keep this to ourselves and not tell any members of our inner posse
I wish I could tell the world
‘Cause you’re such a pretty thing when you’re done up properly
I might want to marry you one day if you watch that weight and keep your firm body

Pick up the first book you see, turn to page 9, go to line 7, fifth word. Thank you Chase for the prompt!

Book: Nine Stories – J.D. Salinger

The word was “all”.

For people who don’t really know me, it probably looks like I have it all or have it all figured out. What problems could I possibly have? I had an assistant who would comment about how I am so well put together and I make things look effortless. The truth is, I spend a lot of energy making it appear that way. I work hard to creating an aura of calmness, I found out that it helps patients be more forthcoming with me, and this has been instrumental in my ability to help them.

I’m a multifaceted person, where three versions of me exist simultaneously.

Version 1: what I present to my colleagues, acquaintances, patients, and strangers. I appear capable, reliable, and composed. I meet the expectations and appear calm and collected.

Version 2: what my friends and family know. I’m a bit more candid and at times can be quite funny. They see a sliver of my quirks, insecurity, and my complex thoughts.

Version 3: is the person I am with myself and here on this blog. This is where I voice my angst, exhaustion, desires, self-doubt, and vulnerability. It’s where I try to make sense of who I am becoming.

Most people only encounter one version of me and assume they know all about me. But in actuality, there is no single version that tells the complete truth, I am all of them at once—the polished looking exterior, trusted friend, and private self.

We know the person once we spend more time with them in real life. Screens can’t do it all.

But I enjoyed the version three here. Stay who you are coz I found it amazing!

A music-focused personal reflection—drawing inspiration from Hands Clean and exploring themes of secrecy, memory, relationships, and personal interpretation through song lyrics. 🎶✨📖

You choose what people get to see all the versions of you. You have more depth than just what roles you have adapted too.

No one is one dimensional- and if someone tells you that they are – they’re lying.

Alyssa says that I’m not being genuinely authentic cause I have different sides. Which is another reason why I don’t tell her shit cause she’s judgy af

    You contain multitudes, Rojie!

How often do the streams get crossed and you find yourself giving version 2 of yourself to audience 1? Or version 1 of yourself to audience 3? Or are your versions always perfectly matched to your audiences?

    1. justrojie Avatar

I think it depends on the situation. Sometimes, even with friends or acquaintances to keep the peace I stay cordial and I don’t say much, mostly observe. And speak when asked about my opinion. Otherwise I stfu 😆

Mine word was ‘die’ , too dark to say anything 😂😂 so I will will just recommend a song named’ Forever Young’ to you because I like that one .
Also Rojie you look beautiful in picture.

Aw thank you! It’s actually a pic that zaddy took of me when we were at the beach watching the sunset

There’s the real me, and then there’s the person I present to others so I can use them as character witnesses at trial.

It’s not abnormal to curate how people see you. Work vs. family and friends have different expectations and tolerances. But the friends and family who know the personal, true you, who you’re comfortable being yourself around?

    They’re keepers.

My word is “I”. Last word on the seventh line. The book is Griffin & Sabine by Nick Bantock. It’s a voyeuristic addiction to read. Highly recommend.

    1. justrojie Avatar

thanks for the book recommendation! i also believe that not everyone wants to know all versions of me

  13. ibarynt Avatar

And all three are authentically you. You have to be what you need to according the situation and people you interact, that doesn’t make it less you.
