TRIGGER WARNING: murder, suicide, depression, death
There have been a few moments in my life that I realized how precious our lives are and that our time on earth is limited.
- I had a patient who died from a murder-suicide.
- when my dad died unexpectedly
- when I accidentally struck a deer while driving home in the middle of the night
- when my pitbull died despite surviving: oral cancer, brain tumor, torn ACL, and degenerative disc in her spine
- when my favorite uncle passed away from cancer
- when I got t-boned at an intersection
- I had another instance when the husband of a patient jumped off the parking structure.
- one of my attending mentors died from cancer
- fetal demise babies that I’ve had to deliver
- putting my cat to sleep after having complications of congestive heart failure
- another attending mentor was hit by a car and died instantly
With that being said, this is another driving force as to why I try to do so many things, feel as many feels as possible, and go to as many different places as I can.
I suppose… another reason why I feverishly write on this blog and post daily is because I know that one day, the posts will stop (not by choice) and that my words will be my legacy (for better or for worse).
