I am so paranoid about hair loss because I have anemia and that is one of the potential complications that I could have since my body has to prioritize vital organs over my hair.
Every day I:
- take collagen pills with hyaluronic acid + vitamin c
- drink protein shakes
- ingest as much complete protein as possible, but there’s only so much foie gras I can eat before wanting to vomit
- use red light therapy
- take iron supplements w/vitamins (helps absorb the iron better)
- I also have a filtered shower head for hard water
- use sulfate-free shampoos and do scalp massages while in the shower
- stopped wearing tight ponytails
- been trying to sleep more
- do meditation and deep breathing exercises when I feel stressed to prevent cortisol levels from spiking
I was talking to my colleagues and assistants about how I feel like my hair is thinning and talked about Minoxidil. One coworker said it was effective for her but when she stopped, he started shedding excessively again.
They looked at me like I was ridiculous and said that they don’t notice any changes and that my hair appears very thick and full. They said that I reminded them of when Kim K told her sister, Kourtney that she needed to go to the hospital because she noticed a bald spot on her head.
But to be fair, it’s not just me. My friends (millenial + gen z) have been telling me they’re noticing thinning and shedding as well. I wonder if we’re all living with way more environmental stress than we realize: microplastics, pollution, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, chronic sleep issues, nonstop stress, and foods that are ultra-processed and bioengineered. I know our bodies aren’t built for all that…
