Would you rather have an older brother, younger brother, older sister, younger sister, or identical twin?
Prompt snagged from: TCMC
I’d love to have an older brother or sister. I’ve never liked being the oldest—it comes with a massive amount of responsibility that doesn’t let me breathe. In Korean families especially, being the eldest isn’t just about being born first—it’s about setting the standard, carrying the expectations, and often sacrificing your own needs so others can thrive. There’s pressure to always keep it together, to lead, to protect, and somehow still be grateful for it all.
Sometimes I wonder who I’d be if I had an older sibling who could absorb some of that weight, someone who’d already walked a few steps ahead and could show me the way, or at least say, “I’ve got you.”
As for having an identical twin? That’s a hard no for me. I know myself too well. I’d be comparing every little thing—how she looked, how she talked, how people responded to her—and constantly wondering if I was measuring up. It’d be hard to feel like my identity was fully my own. I’d always feel like I was living in a mirror I couldn’t step out of.
