Do you like ordering food delivery? (e.g. Skip, Door Dash, Uber Eats)

Prompt snagged from: TCMC

I don’t do it because I like to. I do it out of necessity.

I’ll order something maybe once every other month, max. It’s not some indulgent habit or a craving-driven decision. It’s more like—well, I can’t just pop out of the building whenever I feel like it.

Most of the time, I’m ordering Philz. A strong coffee for my anemic self and a flaky croissant for one of my assistants. She’s sensitive to caffeine—so no coffee for her—but she lights up at a good pastry. It’s a small gesture, but I like finding ways to show appreciation. She works hard, and honestly? She puts up with a lot. I have high expectations, and she still shows up for me every day with grace.

When it comes to tipping, I generally give—usually 20 to 30%, depending on the situation. I get that delivery isn’t just about convenience; it’s someone’s job, someone navigating traffic, bad parking, and often chaotic restaurant wait times. If I’m ordering from Urth, for example, I tip higher. Their pickup zone is a nightmare, and delays are inevitable. I don’t want the driver suffering for a situation out of their control.

Yes, I know—it adds up. Delivery fees, service charges, tip… it’s not cheap. But sometimes, you pay for ease. For energy conservation. For being able to stay in your flow while still fueling up. And sometimes, it’s just about the little rituals—coffee that wakes me up without tweaking me out, a croissant that brightens someone’s day, all so that we can maintain our sustenance.

Everything here is easy and convenient, so ordering food delivery (other than pizza) is kind of silly.

And of course you are generous with tipping, because you are really great about caring for others – which shines through in this post!

I prefer to do it if it’s not 3rd party like uber, door or grub…those charge ridiculous fees

The charges are wild. I often look for coupons too or promo codes, it does help.

I have never had delivery food except for pizza and that was a long time ago. I’m kind of glad now I never acquired the habit.

Don’t ever start. I try brewing coffee at work and I go to sleep right away after drinking it. But at Philz, idk what they put in it but it’s got me zipping around. I tried buying their beans and pods but it doesn’t give me the same effect.

Every time the bagger lifted my sister’s groceries to bring to the stock area, she gave tips to the man. At least, she helps a little for him. I copied that, too. I love everything at ease, so as much as I can, I give.

This shows how kind you are, rojie.

Beautiful thoughts. Delivery people here have met accidents and some lost their lives too navigating traffic and meeting that delivery time. It is a hazardous job.

Absolutely, I thank them for helping me when I’m in a pinch
