turn off, tune in

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

I do several things to prevent myself from going overboard:

  • make sure that I finish my work or tasks on hand first before indulging on binging shows, doom scrolling, texting/dming, or writing blog posts
  • if I’m out with friends or on a date, I don’t look at my phone. It’s just bad etiquette. For people who are parents or caretakers, I’d understand them checking up on the fam but other than that… fuck it
  • I have my phone on DND at 2300. The only people whose calls or texts that bypass it are my immediate fam
  • At work, that’s something that can’t be helped, everything is all through an electronic health record so I won’t count that as “screen time”

I’m doing my best to practice putting my phone away while I’m with friends and family, too. I can’t perfect it at home, but at least, I try my best daily. You have good etiquette, Rojie

Aw, happy to hear you like them, Rojie. It’s a repeated place but I can’t stop loving it.
