Currently listening: Secrets – Monsta x

Don’t tell me your secrets, I don’t wanna know
It’s hard to imagine you before
Don’t tell me your secrets, just leave them behind
‘Cause I can’t imagine what you’ll think of mine (ooh, oh-oh)

What’s a risk that paid off?

I’d love to read your responses.

Returning to California after leaving Texas. I could have easily gone back to Minnesota where it’s been home for most of my life, but a part of me wanted to do something different.

I did question my decision for about three years after I arrived in Los Angeles. Most of my support was in Minnesota and having to start all over was terrifying. I didn’t feel like I fit in. My mentality was very much Minnesotan and I felt naive next to these worldly people in California.

It took time to acclimate, many lessons were learned… the hard way… but I wouldn’t change a thing.

    Your Future Is Watching

Your future is being built by the choices you make today. Every small step, every effort, and every moment of discipline brings you closer to the life you want. Stay focused, stay consistent, and never stop moving forward. Success belongs to those who refuse to quit.

I’ve seen in my FB friend’s post before that Minnesota is so, so cold. The winter there is harsh. No regrets. You grow!

This post reminds me of that lyric from the Soundgarden song “outshined“ when he says “I’m looking in California, and feeling Minnesota”

It’s incredibly risky venture, uprooting yourself and moving out of state, let alone across the country like that isn’t it? A lot of people like talking about it, but most people never actually try it.

ooh thanks, i’ll have to check that song out!

Who we are or become are a composite of our life experiences. You’re right to not want to change a thing.

Speaking on behalf of the State of Minnesota, we miss you and would welcome you back, but appreciate that you’re bringing Minnesota niceness to the rest of the country.

thank you!!!! i do miss Minnesota A LOT!!! i miss the people the most. i don’t miss the mosquitos nor do i miss the humidity and blizzards. when i go back (not sure when right now) where’s a place that i MUST go to?

I’m not sure I’m the best travel guide because I tend toward relaxing nature (and the suburbs) so the Chain of Lakes are nice because they’re just the right balance of relaxation and people for me. I’m not sure when you left, but the Hennepin Ave. construction from downtown to Lake Street is done. I rarely go to Uptown anymore so when I saw that I was surprised. Actually Lake St. and Lyndale also had huge construction projects. Restaurants? If I told you the last time I was in a restaurant you wouldn’t believe me!

lol the last time I went to Minneapolis, I ate at an Ethiopian joint. Well I’m glad that the traffic is done with. I saw that it was going on when I was last there about two years ago. I haven’t been to Stillwater for quite some time, I wonder if it might be worthwhile to on my next visit. I def wanna check out that bookstore you mentioned in your previous post.
