viva las vegas 2026: chapter 2, day 2.75

After getting a massage, I fell asleep. Again.

While I was fast asleep, I missed a ton of texts about going to the pool and dinner. TBH, I’m glad I was sleeping because my body really needed it and I didn’t care about the free Aperol spritz or ice cream at the pool. It’s just too damn hot for any of that.

When I finally woke up and responded to their texts and four of us decided that we were going to check out Rang’s Cocina Moderne. It’s a fusion of Filipino, Spanish, French, and Italian.

We got to meet Chef Rang Tan and her husband, Benedict, who runs the FOH (front of the house). They are just so cute. Chef Rang Tan had a catering business in Manilla and there’s been a lot of people sending me IG reels of this restaurant.

Slow-braised beef cheek, sauce of root vegetables, wine, and herbs with mashed potatoes and gremolata. This was by far my favorite dish since being in Vegas. The beef was so tender, it literally felt like it was melting in my mouth. After a few bites, I was getting full so I shared the rest with my friends.

Sweet potato, carrot and ginger soup.

Braised octopus, potatoes, Galician sauce. The pulpo was a bit chewy. The best braised octopus I’ve had thus far was from Carbone.

Lengua salpicao – marinated beef tongue, garlic, olive oil. Now this is a labor of love. Benedict was sharing with us about how long it takes for the chef to prepare this dish. This also was very tender to my surprise. There was a lot of flavor too, unlike other lenguas I’ve had in the past.

After we ate, we headed over to the Dolby theater since we had a concert to go to.

Since we got there early, we went to Haus of Gaga. Lady Gaga has some of the most iconic fashion I’ve seen. I remember when she wore this one in the Telephone MV.

Five Star texted and said that she was running late. She was not doing so hot. I think being in Vegas every weekend for the past few months is finally wearing her down. At any rate, she got tickets for us to go see her favorite boy band, New Kids On The Block. This was going to be their last concert until October. I can’t tell you how many shows she’s gone to but I know I’ve been to seven of their concerts with her.

Jordan Knight still looking good at 56 years old. Major zaddy.

That’s them up in the air. I’m afraid of heights so every time I see them going into that contraption, I feel a bit anxious for them.

Jordan Knight… again.

Five Star told us that sometimes, cast from Blue Bloods come out to the shows to support Donnie Wahlberg. I thought that was pretty cool. His wife, Jenny McCarthy and her son, Evan, were also present.

The concert was almost three hours long and they had no one opening for them. I was pretty impressed because this is their longest concert yet.

Afterward, we walked over to Excalibur and then took the tram to Mandalay Bay. From there, we went to meet our other friends who skipped the concert and were eating at House of Blues instead.

We hung out there for another hour before heading back to the Four Seasons.

We stopped by a shop in the casino and I found these questionable bags of chips. I love brisket but not as chips. And I am not a fan of Burger King, so there’s that.

I was going to go to the gym again but after taking a shower, I was getting sleepy again and instead went to bed with wet hair.

Looks like a fun day. We’re not served octopus in our country, I mean not commonly. But everything sounds quite relishing 🙂.

Heard ‘er all my life! I’m into Mark Wahlberg’s movie with Christian Bale The Fighter! Micky Ward’s story a bit, it’s good! Melissa Leo won best supporting actress, at the academy- she REALLY did a great job! AND Empire of the Sun with Bale playing at a nutty 13 years old, lol! Great actor! But for boy band music I like it not so much BUUUUUUUT “I want it that way…” is REALLY good and ALLLLLLL of BTS is REALLY GREAT!!! That’s how I feel right now,😄
