Tangible-wise, my vintage watches. They’re fun to wear and it’s a great statement piece. I’ve been wearing them more often these days to give my body a break from the low-powered radiofrequency coming from my Apple watch and to see if there would be any difference. One thing for sure, I notice that I am less distracted and able to achieve deep sleep (when I actually do sleep).

My brother took my dad’s Rolex when he passed away. He wears it whenever I see him and it makes me happy seeing it on his wrist.

Non-tangible stuff that I treasure:

  • memories I have with friends and seeing BTS
  • my childhood—the good, bad, and the ugly
  • professors and educators who helped me unlock my curiosity, intellect, and critical thinking skills
  • mind blowing sex, I said what I said
  • the look on Hispanic peoples’ faces when I speak Español or what I like to call, Espan-cholo (depending on who I hang out with)
  • spending summers with my grandparents in the motherland
  • driving from Minnesota to Wisconsin during the fall and seeing the leaves change colors
  • interacting with other WP bloggers/readers
  • being with my pittie doggy when she was alive
  • cooking classes in Bologna, Italy and Oaxaca, México

cool list Rojie! my dad had a gold rolex he purchased from south africa it was a cool looking watch with a ruby bezel. he gave it away to my cousin as a graduation gift. I don’t have a watch hobby but I can appreciate a good watch. your collection is pretty cool, love the gem pattern on the white watch.

They are nice watches. I have not used an old style watch in a long time and it’s those watches that definitely do make a statement.

I wear a Garmin watch. But I only wear one of these to alert me to texts and WhatsApp messages from friends.
It vibrates to alert me. This is so that I wouldn’t miss messages and one time years ago, calls from my mum because of being deaf and relying on vibration meant I wasn’t always aware if my phone. And so then my mum would panic.

These watches will still come in handy for me because I will still always rely on vibration from my watch to alert me to my texts and WhatsApp messages. I don’t have it to alert me to anything else.
And then at times when at appointments, the do not disturb is on my watch so I am not distracted from what is important at the time.
Come early evening, watch is off. So unless I see my phone flash, I am not aware of any messages. And if I am, I don’t always look until the next day.

that garmin watch def is handy and potentially a life saver for you and others who are deaf or hard of hearing

Yes. Definitely. I first started wearing it when I used to clean in a large council building. There were a couple of places upstairs where I wasn’t aware of the fire alarm with there being no visual way to see a fire alarm going off. (Flashing light.) So, whenever the fire alarm went off, one of the cleaners would text me to alert me to it.

Great list of treasures, Rojie. I like collecting things I find interesting and worth valuing, not necessarily in monetary terms. Me and my son created a treasure box when he turned 3. And the box contains anything from pebbles to feathers, exoskeleton of cicadas, abandoned wasp nest, purple sunbird nest, seed pods, veins of dry leaves, snail shells, toffee wrappers, receipt of our first visit to bowling alley and what not.

aw that is so cool!! he’s gonna remember that forever!

Not gonna lie. Those watches on the right look like they’re on an amputated wrist.

I have my grandfather’s watch. A Timex, not expensive, but it was his, and I think of him every time I see it. It’s been stopping lately, and I really hope it’s the battery, but I haven’t replaced it yet.

I don’t know if I have anything I think of as treasure, though. Things I like, things I enjoy, but the only things I’d run into a burning building to save are the Kiddos, the Missus, and maybe Doggo.

    1. justrojie Avatar

lol great now i can’t unsee the nub on the right LOL!
