I used to be afraid of dying.

Not that I want to die, it’s just that it is inevitable (unless we’re able to find a way to prevent biological death by gene therapy or nanomedicine). We will all go one day. When? Who the fuck knows. All I know is that death waits for no one.

People always think that they have time, but they really don’t. I thought my dad had time. I thought my three uncles had time. I thought my cat and dog had time. Hell, I thought many of my patients had a little bit of time left. In fact, I found out the other day that a colleague of mine passed away. She was 45 years old. I thought she would have time. But they didn’t.

I suppose this is another reason why I try to do as much as I can. Yes, living in the present is important. I’m not dismissing that. But I also do not want to be at the end of my life having regrets of not doing this or that, especially when I had the chance.

Having witnessed so many deaths in my short lifetime, I’ve come to accept that it will happen to me one day. It is the living who will bear the burden and grieve heavily for their loved ones. When I had family members and patients die, I saw people’s lives crumbling right before my eyes. It’s tough all around, but especially for the living as they try to navigate how to move forward.

Right, very insightful from your point of view, your experince. In highschool I used to say “the only certainty in life, is death”, but there are other certainties in larger fact lol. The life-extending sciences seem promising though, this is thrilling to me! I wish you an AWESOME day Ro.!!!

Fear of death seems rather odd to me. Based upon the 1st commandment recorded in בראשית – fruitful and multiply. This idea validates that the new generation replaces the older generations like a wheel turns upon its axis. So why fear death?

Fear a fundamental emotion separate from grief. The trauma of the Shoah falls in the latter category. Anger – directed at the Europeans primarily and also the Arab and Muslims who allied with the Nazi agenda in the 1930s till today. Hitler’s book exceptionally popular in the Arab world today. Shame and worry other fundamental emotions.

But fear, that’s a hard emotion for me to grapple. Fear hardly qualifies as a person in shock when surprised by BOOO. As a boy remember a older teenage neighbor who scared me by cracking a bull whip repeatedly an inch or two from my face.

Time is fleeting, and death robs us at any time. I, too, hope I can do what I want and just live.

    Great thoughts, Rojie.

Ever see Braveheart? William Wallace’s stirring “rally the troops” speech is epic.

“Aye. Fight, and you may die. Run, and you’ll live, at least a while. Dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom?”

Or in another part: “All men die. Not all men really live.”

    Great post, Rojie! 😎🏄🏻‍♂️

You nailed it. When i had my car accident a few weeks back (not that i was seriously hurt, let alone in danger of dying) my immediate thoughts were of all the things i hadn’t done. All i wanted to was was talk / see my sons and Sierra one more time.

Very true. The living are the ones who carry the burden after a loved one dies. Fortunately, I haven’t lost many close people but I’m very very afraid from the fact that this time will come someday and it’s inevitable. And I totally agree a person should do whatever they can in the present before it’s too late and then regret takes over.

    1. justrojie Avatar

i just don’t want to have regrets so hopefully i’m doing it right…

I think whatever you feel is right, is actually truely right for you. I hope you get to experience everything you wish for.

True, death is inevitable. So, is life. Maybe that’s why they say, “Live in the present!”. I’m sorry for the loss you have faced. Also, I like how you interchanged the word ‘peace’ for ‘power’ in ‘RIP’… nice touch! Have a nice day!

The older I get, the more I wonder if I’m living the fullest life possible. But with age comes responsibilities, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices.

I just hope I don’t drop dead from overwork any time soon…

I’m not sure what ‘monsters’ I’ve defeated. I’m certainly more confident (more, not greatly) and many of the fears that held me back before are behind me.

But I still have plenty of dragons and windmills to tilt against, so the battle continues…

    THE REALITY OF CHRISTIANITY

📖But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).

In our previous study, we reviewed what it means to give your life to Christ. It means much more than merely “surrendering” your life to God. This understanding is important because many people still interpret salvation as the act of “surrendering” themselves to God. But Christianity is far more than that.

When a woman gets married, she doesn’t merely surrender herself to her husband. She identifies with him. She comes into his home, takes his name, and becomes one with him. In much the same way, when you gave your life to Christ, you were brought into union with Him. You became a partaker of His life.

This is why the Bible says, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17). It’s for the same reason it tells us we’re associates of the God- kind: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature…” (2 Peter 1:4).

Don’t view Christianity through the lens of religion. The Lord Jesus didn’t come merely to improve your conduct or introduce you to a new religious system. He came to give us the God-life. God’s own nature has been imparted to your spirit. This is the essence of the New Birth and beauty of the Gospel. The divine life has supplanted the human life.

You’ve become one with the Lord in a living and inseparable relationship. His victory is your victory. His righteousness is your righteousness. His life is now yourlife. Walk in the consciousness of this divine union. You’re not “following” Christ from a distance; you’re in Him, and He is in you. That’s the reality of Christianity.

    PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the divine life you’ve imparted to my spirit and my inseparable union with you through Christ. I walk in the consciousness of this union, manifesting the life, wisdom, righteousness, and glory of Christ to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
