Currently listening to: Running Up That Hill – Kate Bush

And if I only could
I’d make a deal with God
And I’d get Him to swap our places
Be runnin’ up that road
Be runnin’ up that hill
Be runnin’ up that building (yo)
Say, if I only could, oh

When you go on vacation, do you plan an itinerary or do you wing-it?

If it’s up to me, I don’t plan anything except where we’re going to eat. If I can’t figure out a place for us to eat, then going to a food hall seems to work since they usually have something for everyone.

My friends are the ones who create an itinerary full of activities. It takes a lot of time to thoroughly plan and make reservations for a group and unfortunately, I don’t have the bandwidth for that. Plus, I always wonder if others will want to do what I want to do. Not everyone wants to go to museums, pow wows, historical sites, shopping, or concerts. I am for the most part pretty chill and will go along with whatever my friends plan.

That is pretty easy going Rojie! Personally I think winging it is so much more fun! Of course there should be a list of places you want to visit but how you reach there should be spontaneous. Not everyone knows this but there is literally a WW2 museum hidden in Niagara city near Niagara falls and its free to enter. I discovered it on one of my many spontaneous adventures.

Damn thats a long time ago! Time for a revisit. In season its crowded so best time is just before the season begins. Holiday Inn has a heated pool.

        1. justrojie Avatar

          before which season?

I don’t go to concerts. I’ve never been, and not included in my wildest dream. I think you can just get along on all things?

Shopping or window shopping in a mall is good. We can break for a meal in an eatery within the mall – so convenient.

As a child, I have heard the odd songs of Kate Bush. I wasn’t really a fan. (I’m still not.) But I would still listen when a song came on of hers.
I can’t remember the single I had of hers, when I was given a load a records as a kid. But I know I played it.
I don’t think I have seen this video before and the song is not familiar. But it really has been since I was a kid hearing her songs. So, it maybe that I forgot this one.

I haven’t been on holiday in some years until I went to Brighton this year to scatter my mum’s ashes.
As I went with a coach company for my holiday, so excursions and hotel included in the price, meant I went on some of those planned excursions. But not all of them because second day I scattered my mum’s ashes and middle of the week the excursion for that day I felt too much was going on and so not enough time to enjoy those places. Which turned out true with what some of the other people will saying.
I ended up staying in the hotel because it was too hot. But if it hadn’t have been, then I would have gone down to the beach.

Some years ago, when I went to my favourite place that I go to often, (Newark-on-Trent ) I decided to have 5 days there. I planned what I was going to do each day while there. It helped me also at that time to be more familiar with the area.
My friend who lives down that way, we met up on one of these occasions. So she joined me in what I was doing. Plus, on her suggestion, I went out in the evening to a restaurant.
It was my best 5 days I planned. And I achieved what I wanted to achieve by knowing the area even better.
At some point later. I can’t remember how long ago, I had a few days there.
I was going to plan to do the same this year. But hotel more expensive than I last remember. So, I plan on just going down twice in that particular week I have in mind and just travel back and forth. Although, I might spy on prices nearer to the time because I know the prices are known to drop.

    1. justrojie Avatar

ah it’s more fun to have someone else go with but i’ve certainly gone places by myself too. i hope the prices are reasonable at the hotel you’re planning to go to.

      1. Liz Avatar

They may or not be nearer to the time. But I am still happy to just travel down on individual days if needed. Things might change between now and then anyway. So, I not likely to book the hotel now.
I like travelling alone. But when I go down to Newark, I will always call and see my friend. If she is free.

For the most part, I try to win my vacations. If I’m going somewhere, there’s usually certain things I want to see, but I won’t make a strict itinerary to the point that it almost feels like sightseeing itself is a job.

Vacations are supposed to be relaxing

    1. justrojie Avatar

yeah, i think they way you’re doing it is ideal, sorta like a hybrid of both worlds

    1. justrojie Avatar

haha try to do at least one if you can!

I don’t have the time or energy (or decisiveness) to plan out all the details of a vacation. Fortunately, the Missus does.

Sometimes, she drags me, kicking and screaming, into the process, and I’ll reluctantly participate. But planning does feel like a constraint, and vacations shouldn’t be about constraints.

    Right?

    1. justrojie Avatar

      right! be loosey goosey!

I’ve been to two pow wows. One was at a casino and another one down here in the city. The urge to want to go out there and dance is overwhelming.
