Oreo did a collab with BTS.

호떡 (ho ddeok – brown sugar and cinnamon filled pancake), it literally means barbarian’s rice cake. These were originally brought to Korea by the Chinese merchants who emigrated to Korea.

I used to eat these all the time when I stayed with my grandparents in the motherland. They were so good, especially when they were made fresh. They would often have vendors in carts making these on the streets. My mom would get homesick and make them at home but they just never tasted the same as the ones in Korea.

It did NOT taste like 호떡 at all. I thought that the cookie was too sweet. IMHO, I thought it tasted more like maple, like the maple cookies from Trader Joe’s. Eating it with a cup of decaf coffee did make it better but not enough for me to keep eating them. I gave the rest of the Oreos to my assistants who thought it was the best thing ever.

There are thirteen different designs on the back of the Oreos, to symbolize their 13th anniversary. People will need to collect multiple bags to find all of them. Purple is the official color for BTS.

Also, Oreo has set up a QR code (here’s the link), where you can send a letter to BTS. People can send up to ten a day. The grand prize winner will get a trip to Las Vegas (plane ticket, two nights at a hotel, ground transportation, two concert tickets, and $1,440 in spending money). 90 first prize winners will receive 1 Oreo and BTS neon sign. 240 second prize winners will receive an Oreo and BTS cookie jar.
