LINK: in a day….
I woke up in the morning feeling decent enough to go to work. I had an audit, one of many and two meetings as well that I had to attend.
I met my director at the entrance and I looked at her and said, “It’s going to be a good day.” She said, “I wish I had your optimism because I don’t think it will be.”
I went to the bathroom and found out that my time of the month was going to start this morning. Great. My coworkers told me, “Congratulations, you’re not pregnant.” I replied, “As if.”
Mid-morning came around and my coworker gave me 600 mg of Ibuprofen because I could feel a headache getting ready to rear its ugly head
I was informed that a patient’s family would be filing a grievance against me. Yeah, that’s fantastic. It was very upsetting to me because I had done all that I could do for that patient. The jefa looked at me and said, “Everyone has a right to complain. Don’t worry, we know you did everything you could do.” Even though I knew she had my back, it didn’t make me feel any better.
A repeat patient who tries to get himself admitted every six months appeared. He specifically requests for me every. Damn. Time. He’s as tall as Godzilla. Okay, I’m exaggerating but still, he’s quite tall. Anyway, he’s taken a liking to me and always wants to tell me about his family history. He looked at me and said, “You’re a cute Oriental. If you weren’t working here, I’d ask you to marry me. Do I creep you out? I better stop otherwise I’ll weird you out, huh? Does anything scare you?” I keep my affect flat and reply, “If you could just tell me about your symptoms, that would be helpful.”
