LINK: greek fest
A couple of years ago, I took myself out on a date to a local Greek Fest. I didn’t want to engage with anyone but I wanted to eat good food. I’ve been to several Greek Festivals and have eaten at amazing Greek restaurants since moving back to California. #blessed.
When I tell people that I’m an introvert, I really am an introvert. I enjoy being by myself a lot. Maybe more than most people…
There was plenty of parking in a lot a couple of miles away but they had buses shuttling people back and forth for free. To enter, there was a $10 charge, which I felt was worth it.

I was like a little kid in a candy shop. There were so many options to eat, unfortunately because I was alone, I couldn’t go all out. I made a rookie mistake by not bringing tupperware and a large bag to place the leftovers in.

Saganaki (flaming Greek cheese). Yes. I love cheese. I was raised on the dairy. I believe it’s made with kasseri cheese, flambéed with brandy, with a squeeze of lemon juice. When they finished cooking it, they yelled “Opa!”
Greek fries with salt, oregano, lemon juice, and feta cheese. Yes. More cheese! It’s never enough…

Pastitsio, it’s like a Greek lasagna with béchamel. It’s one of my favorite pastas.
Spanakopita, inside the phyllo dough exterior is spinach, herbs, eggs, and yes… more feta cheese.
Tiropita, inside the phyllo dough exterior is eggs, herbs, and feta cheese. Some people add cottage cheese, others add ricotta or cream cheese. To me it doesn’t matter. Cheese is cheese. Hehehe.
Everything was delicious. I got to eat a little bit of everything. I really tried to eat everything but I was too full. Next time, I’ll be prepared.
