go off, queen

LINK: go off, queen

Currently listening to: Crucify – Tori Amos

Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces, then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now

I’ve been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I’ve been raising up my hands, drive another nail in
Just what God needs, one more victim

What’s the most awkward work scenario that’s happened to you? Thanks, Yankee Doodle for the prompt!

I’d love to read your responses.

A few years ago, a colleague of mine, Will, called me after hours to let me know that he wasn’t feeling well and was going to call out sick the next day.

“Thanks for the heads up.”
“No prob, sis.”

I’d call him bruh and he’d call me sis. It’s just how it is. I’ll be in the break room or in my office and he’ll come by and turn off the lights. It’s the same shenanigans that my brother used to do to me when we were growing up.

Quick backstory: Will is a former marine, married, and has six children (two are from his first wife). His wife, Camila, cooked for me —I paid her to make me high-protein meals twice a week for a few months. She’s a fabulous cook and would make extra servings of their dinners and that’s what I would eat. It consisted of: barbacoa beef, grilled veggies, kabobs, crustless quiches, shakes, chicken stir fry, chilis, stews, etc.

When he returned to work a few days later, Will looked stressed and asked me, “Hey, when we hung up… what did you hear me say?”

“Uh, ‘no prob, sis.’”

“THAT’S what I told Camila. She swears I said ‘love you.’”

“What? No. She needs to get her ears checked.”

“That’s what I said! But she’s not having it.”

“No offense, but you are so not my type. You’re like literally, my brother.”

Also, whenever I mention having any headaches or body aches, he has zero empathy for me whatsoever. “Rojie, you are weak. Pain is weakness leaving the body.” And every time he tells me this, I roll my eyes.

The following day, Camila called my cell and asked what I heard. I told her the honest to God truth. “No prob, sis.” Then she did the “Mmm… hmm..” I shook my head and told her, “I don’t shit where I eat” but she wasn’t trying to listen to what I had to say.

Things have been strained since then. According to Will, they were going to counseling through their church after this incident. She’s still cordial to me whenever we cross paths, but we weren’t as close as we were before. TBH, I think they were having issues beforehand… IMHO (in my humble opinion), but was using this as an excuse to go off.

Ya, if you don’t mind me saying, “I love you” although it was not said, is not so bad anyhoot. She, ya, they have to clear stuff up at counseling, there’s wayyyy more I’d imagine than that hello goodbye on the phone bugging out. My God! We are all different, ay?

That hot and crazy scale needs a good food axis to make sense of the graph.

So if she was his first wife, maybe that’s why they divorced, if she was second wife maybe she was just insecure??!!!!

    1. justrojie Avatar

it was his second wife, she might be insecure?

Better to check their ears.😁 But, I wonder what’s on the minds of women who put themselves on the married men.

Taken man is always taken. You are attractive to have many suitors!

That sounds like a difficult situation for everyone involved. Misunderstandings happen, but trust is built long before moments like this.

it sure is!! it was a weird situation for sure

Geez, who needs that drama? I agree, sounds like they were definitely having issues beforehand, and she was just looking for confirmation of her fear / insecurity.

I was once escorting a visitor to another colleague’s desk and got lost in my own building.

There was more to it than that, but I can only share so much embarrassment at once…

lol that must be a big building??

Wow. Awkward af. Man, I wish that I could work again. I actually am going to right back into acting some time in the new year bc my worker Sherri could help me with that. ^^ Acting is full of crazy moments. One tip? Beware of Macbeth. TRUST ME.

That’s a sad story. Your friendship with Will might never be the same, but I hope he and his wife are/were able to fix things between them.

It’s never been the same le sigh..
