The state of Minnesota requires 50 hours of supervised driving from a parent or guardian and 15 of those hours must be at night. My dad taught me how to drive. He also taught me how to drive a stick shift since he drove mostly manual cars.
Let’s just say that there was a lot of yelling in Korean on my dad’s part and me having a menty b whenever it came to parallel parking. I have to say it did came in very handy (unlike the midpoint formula) while I was at uni because street parking was a lot cheaper than the lots and I had places to go.
They also require 6 hours of behind the wheel instructor with a licensed instructor. Not only did I have to attend a driver’s education class on a Saturday, my instructor drove to my place and picked me up with one of cars that had a brake pedal on the passenger side of the car that could override me along with a big fat embarrassing sticker that had STUDENT DRIVER plastered all over the backside.
This dude had me on every freeway going round and round on these butterfly freeway interchanges. I thought I was going to get nauseous and throw up but I persevered! *shakes fist*
In turn, I taught my brother how to drive both automatic and manual. And I too… forced him to go round and round on the freeway until we both got nauseous.
