¿de dónde?

Tell me where you’re from without telling me where you’re from.

Prompt created by yours truly.
Feel free to use any prompts for September that I post and/or tag me.
I’d love to read your responses

I’ll go first…

I am from a lot of places…

I was born in what people used to call South Central, now called South Los Angeles. I’ve lived in a lot of cities… states… particularly in the Midwest. But for now, Southern California is where I’m from but Minnesota is where I call home.

Ethically, I am Korean. I identify as Korean-American. Koreans from the motherland do not fully accept Korean diasporas like myself. And Americans don’t fully accept me as one of their own. I find myself in the middle of both worlds and I’ve come to terms with that.

Wow Really Ya never heard the song Allentown, which was actually written about a town in upstate NY, reflected more about neigbor city Bethelehem with the closing of Bethlehem Steel but the name Allentown had the best singable ring to it.

Where am I from without telling you where I’m from. I’ll have to act it out.

“Hey there, will you please pass the tater tot hotdish?”
    “Yeah, sure.”
    “And the hot sauce, too?”
    “Oh, yeah, here’s the ketchup.”
    “Thanks.”
    “You betcha.”

This: ” Koreans from the motherland do not fully accept Korean diasporas like myself. And Americans don’t fully accept me as one of their own.” is pretty sad. The first part I can almost understand, but the part is really messed up.

That really screws up one’s identity. But you are not limited and conditioned by a place. No one can stop you from being who you are.
