Write about a time when you felt like you had imposter syndrome.

Prompt created by yours truly.
Feel free to use any prompts for July that I post and/or tag me.
I’d love to read your responses.

I remember being told during our rotations to never admit we hadn’t done a procedure before. This was so that we exude professional confidence, keep the patients reassured that we knew exactly what the hell we are doing.

Despite that, I never went rogue. If I didn’t know something, I’d say, “You know what? That’s an excellent question. I want to give you the most accurate, up-to-date information. Let me get back to you on that.” Then I’d quietly excuse myself from the room, track someone down in private and either ask them the question or look up the information myself before walking back with an accurate answer.

A meaningful prompt that invites honest reflection. ✨ Imposter syndrome is something many people experience, especially when stepping into new challenges or achievements. Sharing these moments helps remind us that self-doubt is often part of growth, not a sign of failure.

I’ve always thought that “Let me find out for you!” Is a much better answer than “I don’t know“

      And it’s more helpful!

You work in a field where it could end up being counterproductive to admit you don’t know something. Fortunately for me I never have.

It sucks but I get it

Very mature and professional of you. I wish more people were like that.

For me, every day is Imposter Syndrome Day. If there was medication for it, I’d be a chronic user.
