I love beef. It’s my favorite meat, and it helps with my anemia.

With that being said, I was also a vegetarian for nearly four years. I wasn’t much of a pork eater, especially after kindergarten, when a teacher had us watching Charlotte’s Web. IYKYK. It just really made me think about how cute and smart pigs were.

With beef prices climbing, the screwworm parasites, and the questionable mystery meat (tariff-free beef) coming into the U.S. from other countries, I may have to rethink consuming beef for a while. Side note, if China is rejecting the beef tainted with chloramphenicol, why the hell would I want to consume that?

Chicken all day, followed by beef, pork, mutton and seafood. Partial to pork soup dumplings on any given day.

i love white meat chicken and turkey lol

      1. Ajinkya Rane Avatar

Ah yes turkey I totally forget! Cold cuts are the best.

There is lots of frozen meat now, and it’s not healthy at all. We also buy meat always(pork and chicken) but we didn’t know how fresh it is.

Beef is my least favourite meat. I like chicken and pork more.

    1. justrojie Avatar

fresh meat is always good but yes, we’ll be getting frozen meats too soon

Give me beef anytime. But what’s all this beef controversy?

    1. justrojie Avatar

beef prices are going up and supposedly because of this we’re importing questionable beef… but i don’t believe this is the reason why it’s happening…

      1. ibarynt Avatar

All the non-veg is ridiculously expensive for us. We don’t buy beef like we used to.

        1. justrojie Avatar

          Le sigh…

I love beef, sheep, pork and after them chicken. As a half Brazilian living in Lebanon I like getting brazilian cuts and lebanese sheep cuts, raised here, we call it “baladi” and prices of meat here are quite reasonable.

    1. justrojie Avatar

ooh i love lebanese food! i haven’t had much sheep

      1. Hug in a bite Avatar

Sheep meat is really good you should try it especially Lebanese it is really fatty and good

        1. justrojie Avatar

i’ll have to try it next time i’m at a lebanese restaurant!

  7. Cai Avatar

My preferences are fish, then chicken, followed by mutton.

    1. justrojie Avatar

Wow lots of people have been saying mutton !

I wouldn’t trust this ‘mystery meat’ Trump’s gone off the deep end… my favorite meat is probably chicken, fish and tofu. Pork and beef are ok… I love me some smashburgers too Ro. 🙂 If my site wasn’t working yesterday, it’s bc I forgot to actually publish … oops? 😳😳😳😳

I love bacon. I make for a terrible Jew. LOLOL but seriously… ya.

    1. justrojie Avatar

he’s lost his mind. lol i eat bacon every once in a while

I gave up beef decades ago.

    Why?

Because of one interview with a cattle rancher during the height of the Mad Cow frenzy.

Reporter: Do you worry about your herd getting mad cow disease?

Rancher: Naw. We vaccinated them all against it.

And absolutely no pushback from the reporter. But I didn’t quit NPR until decades later…

    1. justrojie Avatar

      We’ve all gone mad 😂

Some of the hardest goodbyes are not the ones we say out loud, but the ones we carry silently. Sometimes you can love someone deeply without ever having a relationship with them, without promises, without a future you could hold onto. The heart does not always let go just because the mind understands. But not every person we love is meant to stay forever. Some people enter our lives to leave a mark, teach us something, and become a chapter we remember, even if they were never meant to be the whole story.

if it weren’t the best thing for anemia, i would probably drop meat altogether. i don’t really care about it, and don’t like pork (except prosciutto). we’re lucky to still have good quality meat in my country, but the government is being suspicious lately, probably trying to shut down small farms, and get money from big corporations. that, plus reading about the meat industry abroad, for example, in the us, is turning my stomach, not gonna lie…

    1. justrojie Avatar

I wouldn’t be surprised if I went vegetarian again with this mystery meat being sent here…

I know, it’s crazy. I’m glad I stopped eating beef two years ago. Waiving some regulatory checks to lower prices instead of removing tariffs doesn’t make sense to me.

    1. justrojie Avatar

it’s pretty damn scary if you ask me!

      1. Edward Ortiz Avatar

Super scary. I know the cattle ranchers are pretty upset with him right now.

        1. justrojie Avatar

          Hopefully things will change…

            Yes! 🤞🏼

Screwworm parasites, I hadn’t heard of those before. I was just getting over Cyclospora fears and now another concern! Pretty soon it won’t be safe to eat anything.

    1. justrojie Avatar

we’re all gonna have to be farmers soon at this point… eeek

Luckily we have good meat here in Australia… but I think hormones are in the chicken… hmmm… I really should do some more research!

    1. justrojie Avatar

i am definitely envious of you aussies!

      1. The Mindful Migraine Blog Avatar

We’ve got our own weird stuff going down… but food security is not really a problem (yet). xx

    2. Kitchen Garden Planet Avatar

Australia still has mostly factory farmed meat, just like America and Europe and Asia, so most of it is not good at all, unfortunately (https://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/news/a-grim-reality-behind-australias-beef-industry-has-been-revealed/news-story/3dd297f864ab2111e6ea7de2b2d79941)

      1. justrojie Avatar

        oh man that’s unfortunate!

      2. The Mindful Migraine Blog Avatar

        oh no – that’s terrible – I didn’t realize… yikes.

I’m a 98% vegetarian who eats organic chicken or fish very occasionally. My husband isn’t vegetarian but he rarely eats beef (ours is safe; no worms) since the price is so stupidly ridiculous. If you don’t mind me asking, why did you decide to eat meat again?

    1. justrojie Avatar

there have been multiple times that I stopped eating meat, once was after watching charlotte’s web and another when my bf at the time challenged me. i think every so often, my body needs a detox also.
