bedroom talk

Currently listening to: The Great War – Taylor Swift

My knuckles were bruised like violets
Sucker punching walls, cursed you as I sleep-talked
Spineless in my tomb of silence
Tore your banners down, took the battle underground
And maybe it was ego swinging
Maybe it was her
Flashes of the battle come back to me in a blur

What does your bedroom say about who you are?

Prompt created by yours truly.

I’d love to read your responses.

I suppose it says a few things:

  • I am horrible at making the bed
  • I am a minimalist, my brain can’t handle clutter
  • I have a thing for Edo Japanese, mid-century, and Scandinavian designs
    • I prefer darker colored woods like mahogany
  • I should really clean up the area before taking pics

For the most part, work is unpredictable and high-stress. My childhood was chaotic and traumatic. It’s hard for me to function at home if I have a lot of clutter. I will get distracted and it’s difficult for me to lock in.

My dad was also a minimalist. He would throw away our belongings if it wasn’t put away immediately or if things weren’t tidy. He tossed my clothes into the garbage when I failed to hang them up in a timely manner. He threw away several of my mom’s plants before it was getting out of hand, according to him (in Korean). People who came over to the house would say that we lived in a museum.

I gravitate towards order and control and well… this is one of the few things that I really have control over.

I’ve moved about 20 times now and keeping things light has become a habit… just in case I want to move again.

With that being said, I do enjoy being in other people’s homes that look “lived in” with all the tchotchkes, knickknacks, trinkets, artwork, and what nots.

Lol that throwing away part is so real! My dad believed in vaastu(indian feng shui) and kept moving the furniture around based on directions. He must have moved my study table like 10-15 times. It never improved my grades though hehe. Also now that I have settled in one place after moving around a lot I don’t actually need a lot of things so my room is pretty empty and walls are bare no paintings, portraits nothing. 😃

oh snaps i didn’t know that vaastu was a thing!

It would be … diplomatic … to say our home looks lived in.

    I’m not a fuss, but I don’t like clutter.

Everyone else in our household, however…

So what does the state of my bedroom (and living room and kitchen and dining room and EVERY DAMNED room) say about me?

    I’m extremely tolerant.

And possess a high threshold for suffering.

    1. justrojie Avatar

lol i have a low threshold!!

And I would call that a well made bed! At least, my bed rarely looks better than that when I make it.
