bear no malice

Do you tend to forgive and forget, or just forgive but not forget… or neither?

Prompt created by yours truly.

I’d love to read your responses

I tend to forgive often, mostly because it’s a lot of weight to bear and my bandwidth is short these days. I enjoy my peace. I really do.

But do I forget? Hardly. My memory is on point… and if I forget, how will I ever learn?

I have to think about this one….

I love it when I forget! Because it allows me to move on and do all this productive stuff>>>but when a hurtful or angering memory comes up? I can sit there and burn but you know? It is great fuel for exercise like my karate or hitting the makiwara. I like peace too, but I will defend myself lol

I’m the same I forgive a lot but when it comes to forgetting it’s impossible. I remember every single small detail. I don’t know if that’s good, but that’s how I am.

      i’m the same way too!!

    Yes, i don’t forget, too, but I forgive. It’s just that simple.😁

I just read today: we’re not the only one in facing anything! Instead, we always have companion.

I think my memory is pretty good, but I really do forget a lot of stuff that I was hurt by in the past. Sometimes my wife and I will be in real disconnection–fighting for hours or even days–and a few weeks later, I can’t quite remember exactly what we were fighting about. Maybe that’s one reason I persist in doing dumb stuff!

lol!! idk if i could argue for days let alone weeks and live in the same household! i think i’d just concede at that point.

Depends on the transgression and who commits it.

I’m more likely to forgive friends, but at the same time, really serious things that a friend would absolutely know is hurtful? Much harder to forgive when I expect them to know better.

I’ve lost two longtime ‘best’ friends that way.

Family, you have to forgive (again, except for truly evil wrongs).

Strangers? F*ck them for even the mildest slight.

Didn’t cover your mouth when you sneezed? Say hello to my faithful companion, Mr. Brass Knuckles, and goodbye to your teeth, Sneezy.

    Forget?

    Never.

There are instances in past where I have forgiven people , but these days I have a policy No forgiving no forgetting, people will still stay the same .

    1. justrojie Avatar

i could totally see that happening with me after the 2nd or 3rd time a person keeps pissing me off

i love that meme soo much. it pretty well sums up my essence. ^^ i might swipe it. but, as forgiving and forget? My past has made me diamond tough. i may “forgive and forget” but do I really?? No.

Short post and to the point. Having a memory of the past incident serves like a trigger, to remind not to broach on that topic again.

      Thank you, Cai!!

I rarely forget. Forgiveness doesn’t mean allowing the forgiven to continue to offend, also what you say about learning.

I do forgive, fairly readily, in order to continue to move forward.

      same, same!

Emotion requires energy. Ask yourself how much energy you want to give to Emotions that do not benefit you?

    1. justrojie Avatar

not a lot because otherwise i’d be in a coma because the bandwidth has been sucked outta me lol
