No chains to unlock, so free to do what he wants
He’s into what he’s got (and that’s me)
He loves me, he loves you not

He’s never gonna be with you (with you)
He’s into what he’s got
He loves me (did you get it?), He loves you not

I’ve developed a sixth sense for guessing someone’s age — and it has nothing to do with wrinkles or slang. It’s all in the font size on their phone.

My Gen Z friends? Their screens have the default font. But my elder millennial friends and older? Their font is bigger. Like, “one text bubble takes up half of the screen” huge.

I’ve got friends who DM me on Instagram, begging me not to use such small font on my stories. One person said they had to screenshot my story and zoom in just to read what I wrote. My bad.

I’ve got the opposite issue, myopia (a.k.a. nearsightedness), so anything past arm’s length is basically a Monet painting. And to make things extra special, I also have astigmatism — which turns night driving into a trippy light show, like I’m constantly living in a low-budget rave. Streetlights blur, headlights stretch, and suddenly I’m not sure if I’m seeing a red light or an alien invasion.

I’ve toyed with the idea of getting LASIK, but honestly? I’ve heard too many unappealing stories. People needing it twice, or ending up farsighted as they age and needing glasses anyway. So like… what’s the point? Am I really about to pay thousands just to swap one pair of glasses for another down the road?

Not at all! Plus, if I’m not wearing my cheaters, it’s unreadable.

😆 they say that it is also dependent on the health of the eye too. But to each their own.

You brought up good points. Who needs LASIK just age naturally. That’s the best point.

    1. justrojie Avatar

I know I’ll always need corrective lenses. My friends have gotten it but now they need readers years after… so idk??

      1. Jesse Pallante Avatar

Yes it is probably smart of you not to get Lasik.

Nice way to guess if someone’s a millennial or a Gen Z by just looking at their font size 🤣

I have an astigmatism too- and this year I finally had to give up night driving- and in the winter up here- that means I cannot drive between like 330 pm and 1030am the following day!

Oh man night driving is the worst. I’ll be in the same boat soon enough

Not everyone has crap vision as they age. I’m near sited, small text is only a problem from a distance. I usually take my glasses off to read or use my phone and I’m Gen X

Ooh you’re one of the few in this category!

LOL! I’ve already complained about font sizes here at WordPress and how I have to “biggify” them. I do still have defaults on my phone though. I can’t imagine what you are going through with your eyes. How frustrating – especially the night driving.

Four years ago, I almost didn’t get my license renewed because I struggled so hard with the eye exam. The guy told me to be sure to get glasses before the next test.

Four years later … last Friday, I had completely forgotten about getting an eye exam. With great trepidation I went to get my license renewed and only had a little blurriness with one line of letters! What?! Passed with flying colors. Chalk another one up for an animal-based diet!!

So…have you heard! GenZ is loving starting sentence with small letters? That’s a trend now…not loving the capital letter comes first theme etc. Although being from early GenZ this sometimes makes me cringe when I see texts in small letters lol. but it works for many! I don’t have stylized italicized fonts on phone. Very Arial like fonts. Straight up! Readable

Lolol I also don’t like capitalization on letters but it’s done outta default on my phone and I get too lazy to change it
