It’s fair to say that California has had enough of the nonsense that’s been going on since last year. Now there’s an initiative in the November 2028 ballot called “Should California leave the US“. It seems as though isn’t the first time that this initiative has tried to get passed.
California along with Oregon and Washington already have the West Coast Health Alliance. The state is also lookin to launch PHNIX (Public Health Network Innovation Exchange). California is also the fourth largest global economy. Not just in the country but in the world.
I know that SCOTUS said that the Union is “indissoluble” and that independence wouldn’t be binding under the federal law but damn, I have to ask, does it matter anymore?
According to Harvard Political Review, there are a growing number of residents who WOULD say yes. In July 2025, 44% of the residents said that they would vote for the state to become a nation independent of the U.S. I can only imagine that this number has grown since last year.
But I wonder if it’ll have the same impact as Brexit had on the EU and vice versa?
