LINK: the marriage gap
Sitting in my drafts since December 20, 2025.
I was watching television a while back when I was at Palm Springs and the show was talking about how marriage was now considered a republican thing?

The stigma of needing to get married seems to be collapsing the fastest where democrats dominate like along the coastal cities, college towns, and where there are younger cohorts. I know a lot of my friends either live with their partners, live alone, or live with family.

IDK, is this saying that people are happier when they’re married or not? Maybe back in the 80’s it was a thing but it doesn’t seem to be the case these days… but then again the sample size is rather small.
While republicans have a higher marriage rate, they also have a slightly higher divorce rate. That’s to be expected though if you have a bigger denominator. They are also more likely to remarry after their divorce.
So, I’m wondering why people even have to get married? Aside from it being considered “living in sin”, which I don’t think it’s a fair statement to say since people sin on a daily basis…
