I like to read about the latest and greatest on what WP is up to.

NGL, I’m rather intrigued by the concept of short form blogging that WP is working on. It’s giving Twitter/X + Tumblr + Instagram vibes.

I wonder if that will encourage bloggers to flood their subscribers with notifications for every post that is done throughout the day. For me, I’d probably post once a day.

I would definitely try this out but I don’t want to create another blog… so I’ll wait till it’s available to use on existing blogs. If that happens, I suppose I could add a widget to my site? I guess I’ll have to see how this all transpires.

IDK, what do y’all think?

    i don’t know if i want my twitter personality migrating here LOL

    but that being said, i knew WP would have to do this at some point. Elon is going in on all media companies, even YouTube as X is now entrenched in short and long form video. they want creators! Mike

    Cool, I might check that out Rojie. I’ve actually wished a few times in the past that I could just quickly add a thought or photo, something quick to my blog but then I’m like ugghh that’s not really the perfect platform for it, so didn’t.

    I’m not sure what to think. i love the idea of just jotting down random thought and i like the idea of consolidating all my others socials here.

    But it feels like WP is trying to venture into the social media realm; like blogging is too much work for some people.

    I’m sure that I will probably give this a try. And while I like the fact that it’s able to combine post from other social media platforms, most of what I use social media for is for plugging my blog so don’t worry that my feed will end up being just a lot of static.

    “Short-term flogging”? I think it’s just a fancy way of saying social media posts. It almost feels like they’re caving to people who don’t want to take the time and effort to actually clogged.

    I’m reminded of a quote that I heard from the TV show 2 Broke Girls, of all places “Twitter is dumb, and Instagram is for people who don’t know how to read”

    Interesting, but I don’t see the value if you already have a blog. You can just post a short form entry and that’s it. I’ll read some more to see what else there is. Thank you for sharing, my friend.

    I think it’s a cool idea, especially if it works on existing blogs. It feels like a mix of blogging and social media, which could make posting more fun and casual.
    But I also think too many short posts could annoy subscribers if notifications keep popping up all day. So people would need to use it wisely.

    I guess it depends on how they implement it. I’m not looking to add another social media site to my collection – WP alone is just fine for me. But if it’s integrated into WP, I might consider trying it.

    Maybe.

    But while most of my posts are short, I do lament the withering attention span of the general public. I’m not sure we really need another short form anything.

    On an entirely different note, how did you get banned from substack??

      They said that the pic I posted violated their spam and phishing policy. I legit posted a pic of my dog and they shut me down. 🤦🏻‍♀️ guess they have things against animals or something

    I dislike to be bombarded with multiple posts daily, too from one blogger. I like to post once a day these days. I don’t want my readers to feel overwhelmed by my content.

    I’ll definitely try it when it is connected to my site, not to create another one.

    So when I spoke with one of the people – they said it is not gonna be blended with our normal posts…one has to create a separate handle for that there…and one would subscribe to author and then they’ll get those posts..if not it won’t flood the current system…

    I had lots of back and forth with them on news page of theirs hehe…I was like oh fuck…nah…I don’t want this flood..lol..I am cool with long form of what we all do here haha
