It’s wild to me how BTS had the whole crowd in Tokyo singing the Arirang melody in the song Body to Body.

Especially with the history between Japan and Korea and the song, Arirang, basically being the anthem song for Koreans–song about separation, hardship, perseverance, and collective trauma. It was sung during the Japanese colonial period… and now hearing and seeing the song sung by Japanese to Koreans is just powerful and it hits different.

People as individuals are way different than the people that in mass make up history- remember who it is written by….

That is true. I know the history and that there’s still an ongoing feud https://www.mofa.go.jp/policy/postwar/page22e_0008 but I feel removed from it. Mostly cause I’m not in Korea and I do have Japanese friends
