bridgerton chokehold

LINK: bridgerton chokehold

I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately.

Hormones? Maybe it’s because it’s that time of the month? I feel more… softhearted and sentimental for some reason. I’ve watched three seasons of Bridgerton and for the most part, I was unbothered. It was entertaining, but it didn’t affect me emotionally.

But season 4 volume 2 has got me in chokehold. I’ve only seen episodes five and six because I’m due to watch the remaining two at Julie’s for another Bridgerton watch party in the near future. But dammit if those two episodes aren’t giving K-drama. Part of me wonders if it’s because the main female lead is played by a Korean-Australian, Yerin Ha? That slow-burn and emotional push and pull that drags me in, making me feel a type of way.

The writing is unmatched to the other seasons. It’s the best damn love story that I’ve watched in a long time. The chemistry between the two actors is so so good. Damn, my feelings betray me and I feel all twisted inside… le sigh.

Bridgerton Season 4: Part 2

Spoiler Alert

Peak moments in episodes 5 and 6

Benedict confiding in Will Mondrich after asking Sophie to be his mistress and she turned him down.

Benedict Bridgerton: She is not a person of any rank, and I asked her to be with me.
Will Mondrich: You mean, as your mistress?
Benedict Bridgerton: Well I cannot ask her to marry me.
Will Mondrich: Making her your mistress is the only way tolerated by society. But, no matter her rank, no woman, no man, no person truly desires to be hidden.
Will Mondrich: Did you at least make it clear that you wish in some fantastical world that the two of you could be together, legitimately?
Benedict Bridgerton: No. But we are not in a fantastical world. So would not that have been dishonest?
Will Mondrich: It’s not about honesty. It is about gesture. How can a woman trust you to navigate a complicated life with her when she cannot trust you even to navigate her feelings?

Mr. Hiscox, one of Benedict’s friends, ended things with Virginia (his mistress) after being caught in public one too many times and is now at the country club drowning his sorrows.

Mr. Hiscox: I was forced to end things, to protect her, in truth, but she does not understand.
Benedict Bridgerton: What will you do?
Mr. Hiscox: What can I do? As i see it, I have two options. There is giving up and there is giving in, returning to the demimonde, to a midday drunk… to chasing sorrows in the bottom of the bottle. Would you like to join me in one?
Benedict Bridgerton: not just yet.

Benedict, a nobleman – the second son to the late viscount, professing his love to Sophie, who is a maid.

Benedict Bridgerton: There is not a single moment you do not fill my mind. I’ve heard every qualm you have raised about being with me, and I wish there were some other way for us to be together. But the thought of spending a single day without you torments my soul. You deserve the very world, but how else am I to be with a woman where society has made it impossible for me to be with? The woman I was foolish enough to fall in love with.
Benedict Bridgerton: I would not marry. I could not look twice at anyone else. If only you would love me back.
Benedict Bridgerton: You’re the person I have been searching for all my life. I love you.

If anyone else has seen this, tell me I’m not the only one?

The time has come to cast the Mullahs upon the dung heaps of history. Wars fought to determine who controls trade routes, long before the discovery of oil in the Middle East. Before President Trump’s Cease Fire: Britain negotiated three significant ceasefires with Napoleon before the Battle of Waterloo. Prior to the French total surrender (A French habit\veil comparable to that worn by catholic nuns – both losers.), the European empires in conflict, each one, attempted to impose a blockade upon the other.

      1. “Britain negotiated three significant ceasefires before Waterloo”

      Not accurate.
      • The main agreement was the Treaty of Amiens, a temporary peace between Britain and France.
      • There were shifting coalitions and pauses in fighting, but not a recognized set of three British-negotiated ceasefires.
      • The wars resumed until Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.

      So this claim is misstated.

      1. “French total surrender before Waterloo”

      Incorrect.

France did not “totally surrender” before Waterloo:
      • Napoleon was first defeated and exiled in 1814
      • He returned for the Hundred Days in 1815
      • His final defeat came at Waterloo

    Downtown Abbey. She’s a 20th century girl in a 19th century world.
