This is my doggo, he’s a year and a half now. He is a mix of Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle, Yorki-Poo.
He’s acclimated a bit since he’s become part of the family. His PTSD symptoms have decreased but he still remains hyper vigilant and TBH, I can’t blame him. He’s active, gets the zoomies, and is highly motivated by treats. He’s been with us since October 2025. He’s six pounds, he’s gained a pound in five months and looks healthy now.
Since it’s been blazing hot lately, I had them give him a puppy cut. His fur grows fast and I thought I would be able to shave his fur by myself to save money but he refuses to let me close with the clippers or scissors. I’ve never had a long haired dog before so this is a lesson for me too.
He needs to get an allergy test done because he keeps getting ear infections and the vet recommended it. I don’t think his doggy insurance will cover it but I guess we’ll see.
I still have to figure out his teeth situation since he’s got double sets of teeth like a shark. It’s going to be costly having them all extracted and he’ll have to be put under anesthesia. It’s estimated that it could cost anywhere between $2,500 – $4,000 (not covered by his doggy insurance). Ugh. If the economy was better, I wouldn’t hesitate but with inflation and gas prices toppling over $6.50 a gallon, I have to be more mindful of my finances.
