I’ll wear your granddad’s clothes
I look incredible
I’m in this big-ass coat
From that thrift shop down the road
I’ll wear your granddad’s clothes (damn right)
I look incredible (uh, come on, man)
I’m in this big-ass coat (big ass coat)
From that thrift shop down the road (let’s go, we coming)
If you had a car and was given an opportunity to have vanity plates, what would it say?
I think I’d choose HALFNOTE.
For starters, I like that it’s clean with eight letters and no numbers.
A half note (minim) lasts for two beats, twice as long as a quarter note. The half note hovers for a bit longer, long enough to feel and hear it while the other notes swirl around it.
It doesn’t rush to the chorus, it lingers for a moment, just long enough to know that it’s there, unlike the quarter-note staccato (not trying to throw shade at quarter-notes or staccatos or anything). I’m someone who feels deeply, but selectively. I like to take my time when I am able to.
A half note is never a full note. It implies that there’s another half somewhere out there. A missing piece. Maybe it’s romantic? Maybe, it’s not. Either way, the music doesn’t stop.
I like that it’s a bit abstract and it gives the IYKYK vibe. Most people would assume that it’s solely related to music and drive away after seeing it.
