I sit here feeling like a cuck behind the screen,
watching my hometown, Minnesota, unravel in real time.
They band together—
white, brown, black, yellow, and red
religion is irrelevant.
Clergy in their collars,
community leaders risking it all,
whistleblowers and observers filming to ensure that the accurate narrative is being shown and told,
strangers cooking meals and delivering foods to those who can’t leave their homes.
Economic blackout.
This is Minneapolis.
This is St. Paul.
This is Minnesota.
They say “hold the line.”
But the line is fraying.
How long can they endure?
How long can any of us last?
They are here.
They are there.
They multiply.
My heart splinters watching it all.
I feel helpless,
and not gonna lie, hopeless.
Winnipeg stands in solidarity,
eyes on the border,
hearts breaking in tandem.
I see you.
