What is a difficult truth you had to accept?

There have been quite a few lessons that I had to learn along the way:

  • it doesn’t matter how hard I work, it’s who I know
  • sometimes, my best isn’t good enough
  • if I want something done, I have to do it myself… no one is gonna do it for me
  • I can’t force love
  • practice doesn’t always mean perfect
  • I can’t please everyone, so stop trying
  • I ought to listen to my brain more often because my heart is a liar and it betrays me every time
  • my parents aren’t invincible
  • in the end, everyone and everything dies… except McDonald’s burgers and fries
  • the world doesn’t stop because I’m having a shitty day
  • I can only trust a very small number of people in this world
  • I can’t work harder than my patients
  • it’s okay to say “no”

            i m a touchy bitch. hi esper factors. my mother son. she was fifteen years younger than dad and way smarter. she had her own job and money too. smart rely on a man for nothing. not one fucking thing.

    Some of those truths are harder than others, and some I begrudgingly refuse to accept, even though I know in my (lying) heart they are true.

    I suppose there is some comfort, or maybe perspective, to be found in knowing the world doesn’t stop when you’re having a bad day.

    But it’s not comforting when you come to the realization that there are only a very small number of people out there you can trust and rely on.

    Having a dog helps coping with all of them, though…

    Nice lessons, and very wise! I agree with almost everything, except a few.

    It always matters how hard you work not because it will give you an immediate reward but because of who you’ll become. It’s like treating people well – it’s not because they deserve it, it’s because you deserve it.
