I had leftover points on Southwest Airline and complimentary room at the Palms Casino Resort, so I took a short jaunt over to Las Vegas before the end of the year.

The flight is only about 40 minutes long but I still need to take Dramamine otherwise I get violently ill with motion sickness.
It still fascinates me how different Las Vegas is than any other city. Example: they have flowers you can buy at the airport.

My friends who live in Vegas picked me up and we went to go have brunch since I haven’t eaten for nearly 14 hours and I was starving. I’m not a fan of omelets but I decided to go ahead and get the veggie omelet with hash browns. Unfortunately, I was unable to eat it all but it was pretty good nevertheless.

We also stopped by Boulder City and saw the Hoover Dam and walked around the city there. We made a pit stop at Hemenway Park to watch the bighorn sheep. There was only one hanging out at the park but I’m told that more come out later in the afternoon.

It was well past lunchtime so we went to Weera to eat. My friend swears that it’s better than Lotus of Siam but I’m not sold on it. But then again, I haven’t been to Lotus of Siam in almost ten years. We got the orange chicken and Tom Kah Kai. It’s still wild to me how food is so much cheaper here than back in California, where it’s nearly double the price.

I was able to get a room at the Fantasy Tower. Since this casino is off the strip, it was a bit more quiet and I was happy about that. I hate going on the main drag unless it’s for a show or concert.

I got hungry again late night and we all went to the hotel cafe to see what they had available. We split the patty melt with garlic fries and Margherita pizza with chicken. I thought I could eat more but it just wasn’t happening after half of the patty melt, I was tapped out.
I didn’t sleep much the night before so I brushed my teeth and passed out without taking a shower.
