All my white diamonds and lovers are forever
In the papers, on the screen and in their minds
All my white diamonds and lovers are forever
Don’t you ever end up anything but mine…
It’s been ages since I set foot inside The Broad. And no, it’s not pronounced “braad”, it’s “brohd”—rhymes with road but just add a “b” in front. The first time I went was with Zaddy, he took artsy photos of me in front of various installations. Hehe. I have a pic that he took of me while at the museum, flipping the bird at him because he knows I’m self-conscious about other people taking snaps of me.
I’ve always loved art, even though I can’t draw or paint worth shit. Music is the only thing I can actually create. I admire this type of art from a respectable distance. I had a brief stint at uni selling artwork. I had a crash course in the art world—surrealism, modern art, impressionism, post-impressionism, and abstract expressionism. Of course, Zaddy added to that educational piece too, since he’s an artist and designer. Going to the museums with him was like having my own private docent.
I have a few friends who love going to museums and I try to go every chance I can so I can be educated and inspired.
Below were a few of my favs:

Andy Warhol – Liz. I practiced self-restraint by not blurting out “Elizabeth Taylor, do you think it’s forever?”
Andy Warhol – Elvis

Roy Lichtenstein – Female Figure
Jasper Johns – Watchman

Edward Ruscha – The Right People
Edward Ruscha – Those Other People

Robert Therrien – Under the Table
Barbara Kruger – Untitled (Your body is a battleground)

Candy Noland – MR. SIR. I did a double take because it was a silkscreen image of Charles Manson.
John Ahearn and Rigoberto Torres – Raymond and Toby

Takashi Murakami – Hustle’n’Punch by Kaikai And Kiki. I love all things Murakami.

Takashi Murakami – CLONE X x Takashi Murakami #7495 Astronaut
Kehinde Wiley – Portrait of Malak Lunsford II

Jean-Michel Basquiat – Melting Point of Ice
Jean-Michel Basquiat – DEAF.

Jeff Koons – Michael Jackson and Bubbles

Yayoi Kusama – Longing for Eternity
I was disappointed that I didn’t make it to the infinity mirrored room but maybe next time.
