intermission #4

LINK: intermission #4

IDK what happened to me. Truly. Growing up in the Midwest, I used to think 40 degrees was perfectly good shorts weather. We were just built different over there.

But now? If the temperature dips below 75 degrees Fahrenheit (about 23.8 degrees Celsius) I’m grabbing my hoodie and wearing thicker leggings. California has made me weak.

Last night it was 64 degrees in the house and I slept under three blankets. I considered turning on the heater, but the thought of my electric bill skyrocketing prevented me from doing so.

I went too hard with the acclimation.

I guess you get used to what weather you are around more. For me, it is heat, because in southern Arizona it is hot and dry, but now it is cold so I understand the three blankets. I do the same thing, 😀🤣, maybe four.

Back home we never know whether we carry an umbrella or not, wear a thicker jacket or just a sweater 😁

To wear, to carry or not to is the question 😆

Ain’t that the truth! I will never forget the first time I moved to California- I thought this cannot even be healthy!

Oh, I bet deep down, you miss the coziness of a winter’s day. Mind you, it’s not so wintry here…? IDEK rly. November is hit or miss in Canada (except the Territories and Manitoba. Manitoban’s have to de-ice their tires often cos they freeze up every time it dips a certain degree. 😮 And the Territories? I wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole, if you can’t take Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Alberta even with their clippers. o.O

ngl i do miss a good fire and relaxing in front of the fireplace. i don’t miss waking up 20 minutes to scrape the ice off my car, heat up my car, and drive slower than molasses on the freeways so i don’t slide all over the place. but i do miss the breeze and crisp air

I experienced this when moving from hot weather to cold(er) weather. What people considered unbearably warm, I thought was pleasant.

The good (?) news? If you move back, you’ll adjust.

i have no plans to move back to minnesota any time soon, but i wouldn’t mind visiting for long periods of time

I have no plans to move to Minnesota either. Or to visit it. Ever, if possible. 😉

(Though I ended up there once for work. During winter. And a huge storm. Delayed HOURS at the airport trying to go home.)

Minnesota isn’t so bad, it’s better than it’s surrounding states, that’s for sure 😆

I was there in more clement weather once, too. For work. Took some nice film photos. It was nice.

The same happened to me moving to Portland! Forty degrees used to feel so wonderful in springtime–now it feels like I’m just a few minutes from hypothermia. I don’t know how much of that comes from moving to a milder place and how much comes from not being 19 years old anymore.
