A blurry AF pic of me (second to the left) and my Mexican friends, IDK why but I love this pic of us. They have graciously adopted this Coreana as one of their own. And yes, we’re inebriated except my friend on the far left, she is pregnant.

I’ve never followed any influencers on social media, I just can’t with the constant aura farming. Real life isn’t staged perfection. Real life is messy, hard, and chaotic.

I also stopped liking reels/posts/TikTok’s in general. Not cause I don’t care, but because I don’t want my algorithm deciding who I am or what I should like. That ain’t none of the app’s business. What I enjoy, what inspires me, what I’m curious about… well that’s for me to determine, not some program with my data to box me into.

I’m not interested in curating a perfect-looking life. I’d rather try new things, stumble, and figure out what feels right as I go. I’m human. I fuck up. I’ve made mistakes and I’ll keep making them. My mom would be the first one to tell you I’m far from perfect.

But I do believe in living my best life and I try to do the right thing. I want to be the best version of myself, to continue to evolve, and be enlightened.

    I have to find this weird balance where I avoid people I know on social media because they invariably shock and disappoint me with an insane take on something AND find authentic people I don’t know so I’m not as personally crushed if they say or do something dumb.

    This is a strange world we live in…

    I wish that photo was clearer.

    I don’t like anything on social media yet just because I watch something the bloody algorithm decides those are what I enjoy and should watch. It is more than annoying when someone decides they know our personality.

    I remember reading a story about Earl Slick, one of Bowie’s guitarists. He had made a mistake on his part in the studio. The engineer said that he could fix it. Slick responded and said something like “that’s me playing, warts and all”. That reminds me a bit of your post. Simple said, no one’s perfect, and yet everyone is beautiful – warts and all.

    Well, I will admit to having to look up aura farming- but if that means people doing nice things for vulnerable people for likes- I hate that! The only social media I look at is TikTok and I only do that because it is mindless and fills in the blanks.

    the metaverse and Donyin firma are scaling up on these models…it is quite insane to know what goes on in making such apps addictive and so algorithmic…but afterall, they are business…

    great you do that! I turn off apps completely sometimes after work
