I’ve racked up a ridiculous amount of time off. I’ve got almost 700 hours of extended sick leave, close to 260 hours of vacation, and about 49 hours of education time just sitting there. That’s nearly six and a half weeks of potential vacation time. Just chilling. Untouched.
The problem? We’re short-staffed, so right now I can only request half days off. I’ve been using them mostly for concerts or meetings tied to my secondary job. Meanwhile, the hours just keep stacking up.
And I’ll be real, I’ve got the itch. The “get me out of here, even for a few days” kind of itch. I look at my leave balance and it’s practically taunting me. Like, “Hey, you could be sipping coffee in another city right now, not checking emails.”
But for now, I’m stuck taking crumbs of time off, and the pile keeps growing… teasing me.
