Never in my dreams I thought I’d be with you
You’re often on my mind, I’ll always love you
When I close my eyes just to see your face
I wish this were real, but I’m just dreaming

How do you react when provoked?

Prompt snagged from: NY Times

I do a few things, but it really depends on the situation I suppose…

  1. ignore the person. If the provocation is petty or coming from someone who’s just trying to get a rise out of me, I won’t give them the satisfaction.
  2. fight back, literally. Growing up, my brother and I used to get pretty violent. Trust me, it wasn’t my choice. He was the one always antagonizing me. Like one time, he took the door knob off my bedroom door, he hocked a fat wad of spit on my pillow, or pinched me with his toes while I’m trying to sleep. He used to love bugging the shit outta me when I’m minding my own business. The fighting would stop when he yelped in pain after I kicked him in the groin or punched him in the throat. I don’t condone violence but he just brought out the worst in me. Luckily, we grew out of that phase when we both went to uni.
  3. go into strategist mode. I can play the long game. At one of my past jobs, I dealt with subtle (and not-so-subtle) bullying because my colleagues and I were minorities. They were relentless. So I bided my time, kept my head down and did the work, kept receipts, and stayed one step ahead by anticipating their moves. Eventually, after nine months, they got bored when they couldn’t rattle me and moved on to bother someone else. It’s been years since I left but I’ve heard through the grapevine that they’re still at it, causing chaos and mayhem at the workplace.

You had a lot of patience with those colleagues.

They were spawns of satan. They truly were hateful women

Some of them don’t outgrow the high school years.

Wow – the fights with your brother – and how long you two put up with this! πŸ™‚

Isn’t that always the way? There is always someone (or more) that has to try to make your life miserable at work. I think it’s because we are the ones who keep our head down, do the work, do it well … and they don’t. They are jealous and want to pull the rug out from under us at every opportunity. The best response is, as you said, no response.

Yeah and it didn’t help that we both knew taekwondo too πŸ˜†. I just don’t understand why they have to be like that but maybe it’s because they’re miserable themselves or sadists.

Taekwondo! I bet they were epic fights! And your parents didn’t care, because they saw they were getting their money’s worth for the taekwondo lessons. Yes? πŸ™‚

πŸ˜† they were either at work or at church so no one was there to stop us

I remember once my 7 years older sister threw me off the bed as I was a ball πŸ˜‚ , I was quite powerful when I used to fight her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ , I have not had that level of fight for a long time ,even with my younger sister πŸ˜‚. I love those times She moved to Australia and these days she is too busy to even call me . Siblings fights are interesting, it’s like i can give my kidney but not my food to her πŸ˜‚.

Lolol are you closer with your younger sister then?

      1. Info-Man Avatar

Hmmm…. I actually don’t know whom I am more close to πŸ€” , i have spent whole my life with them so few years of distance can’t say that , just because I am living with my younger sister πŸ€” , whenever she calls either I am busy ,or asleep so I can only talk to her on Sunday, but she knows me well , very well πŸ˜‚ ……and , my younger sister is like a 2nd copy of her behaviour with my face πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜…. She takes care of me more then i do that for her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Lolol that’s so interesting!! I’ve always wanted a sister so I wondered what it was like for others to grow up with sisters

          1. Info-Man Avatar

It is good to have sisters but I always wondered what it would be like to have a brother πŸ€”

          2. justrojie Avatar

If you like being manhandled and not in a good way πŸ˜‚ then I highly recommend having a brother

          3. Info-Man Avatar

My go to right now is to separate myself from the situation, I have even walked off the job in the middle of a shift in the not so distant past.
