We climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us
We are lost in time
And I don’t know really what it means
All I know is that you love me, in my dreams

Do you feel like your “popularity” or “success” in high school translated to adulthood?

Prompt snagged from: TCMC

I don’t think there’s a direct link between high school success and adult success. Some people really do peak early—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Others? Total late bloomers. Sometimes, all it takes is the right opportunity or the right moment for someone to really come into their own. That said, I do think those who were already popular or driven in high school might get a head start. Whether it lasts is another story.

As for me, I wish I could answer this with 100% confidence, but I’ve never gone to a high school reunion so I don’t know how my classmates fared. Our graduating class had nearly 550 students, and somehow, we all knew each other. Most of us came up together through the same elementary and junior high schools, so it was like one long social experiment that started when we were kids.

Truthfully though, I think it has to do with luck, opportunity, motivation, and discipline.

I kept pretty busy.
I played volleyball and ran track.
I was a teacher’s assistant for Spanish IV and V.
Took all the AP and honors classes: World History, Physics, Calculus I and II, College Writing, British Lit.
I was also an editor for the yearbook.
I was a member of the after-school Spanish Club.
I was a concert pianist who competed in state competitions.

My schedule was full and then some. But if you asked most people from back then what they remember about me, it probably wouldn’t be any of that. They’d say, “Oh, she was the girl who dated the hottest guy in school.” LOL. Thanks…

All of the mentioned achievements are secondary, except the dating matters.🤭 Anyway, it’s who you are that matters, not what you achieve.

True, I never went to my high school reunion either. So, I guess it was for the best. Well you were probably busy with your life, so you had a good reason for not going.

If you asked about me they would say she’s the girl who just up and disappeared- from three different high schools in as many years….

Nope I used to just disappear. Get moved from one house to another at the whim of the adults in my life.
