Show me what it’s like
To be the last one standing And teach me wrong from right And I’ll show you what I can be And say it for me, say it to me And I’ll leave this life behind me Say it if it’s worth savin’ me Hurry, I’m fallin’, yeah-yeahIf you could see a statistic about someone on their forehead by command, what statistic would you like to see?
Prompt snagged from: TCMC
At first, my mind went straight to something morbid, such as how many days or years a person has left to live. But the more I thought about it, the more depressing that felt. Imagine walking around knowing someone only had a week left. People would either avoid them out of discomfort or smother them with pity. And me? I’d probably try to save them by trying to help or warn them—even if I couldn’t actually change anything. I think it would make me feel a certain way and so I pivoted from that answer.
I’d probably go with body count. Not to be petty or judgey, but more out of curiosity and a desire for transparency, especially when it comes to dating. It’d save a lot of time and confusion. Like, if I was dating someone and noticed the number suddenly jump, that’d be a dead giveaway they were cheating. Would I be hurt? Yeah. But better to know than be left in the dark. It’s not about policing someone’s past, either. I think it’s less about the actual number and more about the insight it could offer into a person’s current behavior or honesty.
