My assistant sent this to me and said, “This is so you.”
I’m always telling people—especially at work—not to be so quick to shut things down. I don’t have to say yes to everything, but I’m also not afraid to explore what’s on the table. That new task, that random side project, that unexpected introduction—sometimes the best stuff starts from something small.
I also tell them the importance of networking and don’t burn bridges. You never know when a person you worked with or helped out will circle back into your life. And when they do, you’ll be glad you left things on good terms.
I’ve been poached by multiple organizations because of the skills that I’ve acquired along the way and by building genuine relationships with colleagues and leadership. It ought to be intentional and strategic.
