Currently listening to: how u been? – Natalie Jane

It’s just my luck
Running into you on my night off
And you’re with your new girlfriend that you love
It makes me nauseous
That she got what I wanted
And all that I can do is bite my tongue

What is one thing you don’t like about your life that is outside of your control? One thing within your control?

Prompt snagged from: TCMC

Politics. The instability, the constant tension, the decisions made by people in power that ripple down into the lives of ordinary people. It makes me deeply uncomfortable. What I can do is cast my vote, stay informed, and make sure my local and state representatives hear me-loudly, persistently. It’s not much, but it’s something.

And one thing I don’t like that’s within my control? My discipline around health—especially when it comes to exercising and eating right. There are days I just want to give in, skip the workout, eat whatever I’m craving, and not think twice. But with my anemia, I have to stay on top of my body. Gaining too much weight can put pressure on my cardiovascular system and I don’t have the hemoglobin reserves to carry extra weight, which could develop into congestive heart failure.

Side note: One of my assistants asked me about a medication. If you have high cholesterol and you’re prescribed a statin and your doctor says to take it once daily with no specific time, people tend to get better results when it is taken in the evening. Why? Because your liver makes the most cholesterol at night, when you’re eating less. But if you work the night shift, then mornings might work better, right before you sleep.

Politics for sure yes, ya, I’m gluten free and do I ever crave cake sometimes lol, ah! So I’m right taking the statin at night?? Cool!!

It challenges some discipline with regard to maintaining health. I have less knowledge about anemia, but I hope it’s not too bad.

If I don’t take care of it, it could get bad. I think you do lots of walking and physical activities making that really helpful for staying trim

Not so, unfortunately, these days, not like 4 years ago. Since the whole May has no class, I can walk every morning, but when June begins, I can’t again because I have to cook breakfast early. Exercise is so important indeed for our health.

I could do with less politics too. And I\’d love to eat what I want but…

Thank you for the heads up on the statins. I have been taking mine upon rising, but I will give this a try and see what happens.

I’ve always had low hemoglobin and a friend told me that some bodies are unable to produce it. Medication helps me get it to the borderline range.

It also depends on how the iron is being ingested to maximize the effects. Hmm maybe I should write about this as well 😂

My doctor prescribes tablets for 3 months at the most. Yes please write, it would be so helpful for us lay people to understand. Moreover our doctors don’t explain anything.
