Currently listening to: I Remember You – Skid Row
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sands – I remember you
And through the sleepless nights, through every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say, “I remember you.”
What have you learned from older people?
Prompt snagged from: NY Times
I’ve learned so much from the older people in my life — patients, friends, family, even a few unforgettable exes. Each of them has passed down little pieces of wisdom, sometimes directly, and other times in the quiet way they carried themselves through joy, heartbreak, and the everyday.
- They’ve taught me the value of time — how precious it is, and how quickly it slips away if you’re not paying attention. Spend quality time with your loved ones.
- They’ve reminded me to be patient, especially when life doesn’t move as fast as I want it to.
- I’ve learned that mistakes are inevitable, but what matters most is whether you grow from them.
- They’ve shown me the beauty of meaningful relationships. The kind that aren’t just surface-deep, but rooted in honesty, laughter, and resilience.
- And speaking of resilience — that’s one of the biggest things I’ve picked up. Life will knock you down, and sometimes more than once, but you get up anyway. You keep evolving.
- They’ve reminded me to say “I love you” — not just think it, not just feel it — but to say it, out loud, every chance you get. To the people who matter. Because nothing is promised.
- Save your money. Life will always ask more of you than you expect — emotionally, physically, and yes, financially.
- But also, don’t hoard your joy.
- Travel. And when you go somewhere, walk backwards to see the beauty you’re walking away from.
- Try new things.
- Take those calculated risks. You’ll never know unless you try, and playing it safe can be its own kind of regret.
- Most importantly, they’ve told me: never forget where you came from. It grounds you. It humbles you. And it reminds you of how far you’ve come.
- Love freely. Not recklessly, but with intention. With heart. Even if it hurts.
