What would you do if you were president?
Prompt snagged from: NY Times
First off, let me be crystal clear: I would not want to be president. Absolutely not. Every single person who’s taken that job walks out of office looking like they aged fifty years in four. Stress does not look good on me — I’m trying to preserve my youth, not sacrifice it for the sake of political gridlock.
Plus, I’m not pizza — I can’t please everyone. No matter what decisions you make, someone’s going to be mad, offended, or ready to throw hands on the socials. And I already have enough people projecting their opinions on me in daily life — I don’t need to multiply that by a nation.
But… if I somehow ended up in the Oval Office? I’d lead with empathy, logic, and transparency — none of that smoke-and-mirrors nonsense. I’d get rid of lobbyists. I’d term everyone in congress. I’d make sure healthcare and education were accessible and affordable. I’d fight for paid parental leave, affordable childcare, and better mental health support.
I’d make sure marginalized communities had a real seat at the table, not just tokenized. And I’d keep my circle tight — no shady backdoor deals, no golf trips while the world burns. Just straight-up accountability and making sure people felt seen, heard, and cared for.
