Thank you to everyone who’s been keeping Maria in your thoughts, prayers, sending love, and healing energy her way—it truly means the world.
She’s still in the hospital. After initially being admitted through the emergency department, she was transferred to the telemetry unit, and she’s now under care in the respiratory unit.
Doctors were hoping to start her on ASA (acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as aspirin) to help thin her blood and reduce the risk of additional heart attacks. However, due to her known allergy to the medication, they attempted to administer a very low dose to see how her body would respond. Unfortunately, the reaction was immediate and severe—intense vomiting, persistent coughing, and a breakout of hives. So that option is now off the table.
Next, she’s scheduled for a coronary angiogram. This will allow the care team to get a closer look at her heart and determine whether there’s any blockage or narrowing in the coronary arteries that could be contributing to her condition.
Despite everything, Maria is in good spirits—tired, understandably, but still holding onto her light. I’ve been checking in with her throughout the day via text + call—just enough to let her know she’s loved, without overwhelming her. Right now, rest is what she needs most.
There’s still no timeline yet for her discharge, but I’ll continue to keep everyone updated as we know more.
