set it and forget it

Sometimes I like to write my blogs in batches—especially when work gets hectic and I know I won’t have the mental space to write freely later. I’ll carve out some time to write while drinking a cup of coffee and get into that zone where the words flow easily.

But then there are days when the moment hits just right—the vibe is on, the emotions are fresh, and I’ll write something and hit publish immediately. No waiting, no editing it to death. Just runaway thoughts that are real and in the moment. Those are my favorite posts. The ones that feel like conversations more than carefully curated thoughts.

I have a lot of drafts. Some have only a sentence written while others have paragraphs and on the verge of being published.

And of course, there are times I have something scheduled and then… I wake up in a completely different headspace. Suddenly the post doesn’t feel true anymore, or I’m not in the mood to say that version of my truth. So I’ll trash it. Or save it for later. Or rework it until it feels aligned.

How do you blog?

I try to have all of mine scheduled. I like to do a short fiction and a poetry some days, and then on days I do a longer fiction piece I will just leave it on its own. My writing is predominantly prompt driven, so I have certain calls I respond to every week, and that keeps me pretty limber.

I sometimes create multiple pieces in one day and then spread them out with the sheduler. If I am doing someone elses prompt, I’ll post it in real time, the same goes for things I have to get off my chest.

That’s great to know that I’m not the only one doing batches and doing impromptu posts too.

Whatever comes to me at that moment, is what I blog about. I hold myself from blogging freely because it would not make sense. That is why I blog to the question, even if I have done it before. Sometimes I have a new perspective on it.

I don’t know, I relate to life experiences, books I’ve read, movies, trips, and I try to be funny sometimes. You know the coolest feeling I get is when I sit down and write poetics, haikus especially are very rewarding, then>>>>lots of caffeine and I write something nuts lol!. But I write directly after having read a prompt, ideas come and I work through them, ohhhh! I take notes on a coffee-table when I watch stuff and get inspired.

Sometimes I gotta let the prompt marinate and process in my brain before writing too

    Wow! 91 drafts!

I write my posts in Word. I think I might have four posts nearly ready and maybe two that need lots of work. I’m always struggling for ideas.

But, good for you! I like the way you keep jotting ideas down and then work on them. Add, delete, impromptu … I always wondered how you managed two posts a day while working and having a social life.

Ahhh I use the old version of wp because I like it better than those stupid blocks. They work my nerve. Using word would have been my next choice if I weren’t able to switch to the old version.
