I’ve been wondering lately… what do men actually want?

Do they want someone who babies them, caters to every need, strokes their ego like a fragile glass ornament? Or do they want to be seen as suave, romantic, emotionally attuned? Or… ?

I know what I want—and it’s not to be someone’s mother. I don’t want to smother or be smothered. I want to be cared for, cherished, protected—but not controlled. There’s a big difference.

I want someone grounded, highly intelligent, incredible in the sack, curious about the world. Someone I can learn from, but doesn’t lecture me. Someone who challenges me without trying to “fix” me.

Does that kind of man exist? Or is he some rare hybrid of fantasy and wishful thinking?

Anyway, back to my original question, what do men actually want?

    As a man I want to be perceived as cool and reliable but at the same time i want someone who can complement my personality. Compatibility matters to me and looks do too but if the girl is ugly but not funny I ain’t hanging out with her. Crude but its the way nature has made me. The guy you want probably exists and is certainly not rare just have to let your guard down when you find him.

    I want a woman who accepts my injury because it is a big part of me. Someone who is chill but knows how to have fun. Someone who has smarts so I can have a conversation with. This maybe wrong, but someone who likes to be caressed and held. Plus, someone who likes to be romanced. I don’t know if I will ever find someone who accepts my disability, because it is not pretty.

    Very good probing question. For me, I find it annoying that we wander through this life generalizing both Men and Women based on societal expectations of the moment. The fact is, we are all individuals. Yes there are some commonalities among the sexes, but what I want can be very different from the next Man. No different than one woman’s wants or needs can differ from another. Can we just normalized getting to know an individual that makes you wake everyday with a smile on your face and not looking to fill a deficiency in expectation with the next person that comes along? Put in the work, get the results YOU want.

    Men! Well, as a man myself… I would look for someone who is firstly on the same wavelength as me, looks apart…a decent looking girl is good enough. Not too emotional, neither a trophy girlfriend… Enough intimacy to keep things interesting. Guys are simple that way, we don’t look for much…is that too hard to get?
    I live in a country of a billion people and it’s difficult, being a guy isn’t easy, women have it easier, they always call the shots.
    Good question though!

    I definitely agree with you. Sometimes it’s hard to figure them out and having to be their “mother” is such a huge turn off, especially since I have two kids!
