I just can’t get you out of my headBoy, your loving is all I think aboutI just can’t get you out of my headBoy, it’s more than I dare to think about

What was the most interesting thing you saw or heard recently?

Prompt snagged from: TCMC

The most interesting thing I’ve come across recently? Salmon DNA being used in skincare to stimulate collagen production, enhance hydration, and reduce inflammation. There was a Medicube event in L.A.—apparently, Kylie Jenner was there? Not that it really mattered to me, but it did add to the hype.

What actually caught my attention was their line of products featuring salmon PDRN (polynucleotides—aka DNA fragments extracted from salmon sperm). The science behind it is fascinating: these tiny DNA chains supposedly boost skin regeneration, making your complexion plumper, smoother, and more resilient. So, naturally, I bought some.

Which means, yes—I am about to slather salmon sperm all over my face in the name of youthful, glowing skin. Science is wild.

That’s definitely unusual. I never knew salmon sperm could be used that way 👉.

Our Alaskan Native population is already starving because salmon production is so low that they cannot harvest enough to feed their families. I sure as hell hope the people that are making that skin cream are farming their own salmon. Sorry, this is just a sore spot for Alaskans as so many of the remote villages live or die on what they can harvest as to ship food to them is prohibitively expensive.

I totally can understand that!! That’s horrible to hear about the Alaskan natives. I did look into the salmon used for these K products and this is what I found: they are sourced from clean, controlled aquaculture farms rather than being wild-caught. Korean manufacturers use Oncorhynchus species (such as Oncorhynchus keta, also known as chum salmon), which are either farmed in Korea or imported from countries like Russia and Japan.

Since PDRN extraction requires high-purity DNA, the salmon used must come from strictly regulated sources to ensure safety and effectiveness.

I was going to ask you, I watched true detectives season four where they are in Alaska. I was wondering what your thoughts on it was, if you’ve seen it?

          1. Violet Lentz Avatar

I haven’t seen it. Lemme look around.

That was actually filmed in Iceland. We have a lot more snow than they do so it was probably easier?
