As Valentine’s Day got closer, Beau Mec had been bugging me nonstop—to the point where I was getting annoyed. I was already feeling some type of way when I came across the perfect idea—the Bronx Zoo was letting people name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after someone, all for a small donation.
Obviously, I had to do it.
I filled out the form, named a roach after him, and got the official printed certificate. On Valentine’s Day, I handed it to him with the sweetest smile.
He stared at it for a second, then started laughing. “This is the most unique gift I’ve ever gotten,” he said, shaking his head. “I love it.”
I’m pretty sure he’ll never forget me. Ever.
