Stuart Weitzman black pumps with sleek, stiletto heels, just shy of four inches, were my weapon of choice for power meetings. Whenever I knew I’d be in a room with important members from executive leadership, I slipped them on like armor, instantly elevating myself to 5’10”.
I usually paired it with blazers, suit pants, or pencil skirts. There’s something about the way a perfect pair of heels shifts my posture, elongates my legs, and commands attention before I even opened my mouth. I let my height work for me, using it as part of my silent strategy.
They hurt like a motherfucker though and by the end of the day my feet ached. I had a pair of slippers under my desk in the office to slip into after the meetings. The shoes carried me through the biggest meetings and conferences I’d ever been in, game-changing conversations, and high—stake networking.
