Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes and where they’ve taken you.

Stuart Weitzman black pumps with sleek, stiletto heels—just shy of four inches—were my weapon of choice for power meetings. Whenever I knew I’d be in a room with important decision-makers, I slipped them on like armor, instantly elevating myself—literally and figuratively—to 5’10”.

I usually paired it with blazers, suit pants, or pencil skirts.  There’s something about the way a perfect pair of heels shifts your posture, elongates your legs, and commands attention before I even opened my mouth. I let my height work for me, using it as part of my silent strategy. Standing tall, exuding confidence, and meeting every gaze head-on.

They hurt like a motherfucker, by the end of the day my feet ached. I had a pair of slippers under my desk in the office to slip into after the meetings. The shoes carried me through the biggest meetings I’d ever been in, game-changing conversations, and high—stake interviews.

    Great shoes!

I am with you on this! “…shifts your posture, elongates your legs, and commands attention…” Yes! I loved how my legs felt and looked. When I worked a corporate job, I always wore heels. Mine took me to 5’11”. We didn’t have the cramped toe space then. Actually, we mostly had an open toe and an ankle strap. No discomfort and good stability walking. There is definitely a difference in mindset when wearing heels. -Sigh- Sometimes I miss suits and heels.
